What do I Love About Xmas?

It’s been a very quiet Xmas, all my neighbours have travelled except three. Even the three remaining ones, it’s as if they are not around. I’ve not seen them since morning.

.

Remember my neighbour who made a badass jollof last year and I wrote about it on Facebook? Would you believe that I am still owing her a payback/thank you rice? But the good news: she travelled since two weeks back without even letting me know. See how she just carried over her Xmas rice to December 2019. I am so happy.

.
My main next door neighbor was pounding yam early this morning and I wanted to go and beg but I remembered that my parents always told me to ‘mo iru omo eni ti iwo nshey”. If not, I would have thrown my home training to the waste bin and go to her door with a big plate😀

.

What do I love about Xmas?
The fact that your enemies call to check up on you…like that’s their own little way of taking stock😁
The fact that you can sleep all day

.
I heard that the main market close to my house was filled to the brim yesterday so I didn’t bother to go. Tomorrow is my own Xmas. I didn’t even cook.

.
I was eating toast 🍞😀😀😀 and swallowing saliva as I kept on imagining my neighbour eating the pounded yam with efo riro. I began to suddenly miss my mummy.

.
The streets are deserted. I am afraid to hit the main road especially since Kilimanjaro eatery is now in my area and I don’t want to be seeing rich people coming out with bags of takeaway.😀😁😁

.
Anyways, I told my good friend who went to ibadan to buy me dodo ikire. I will be starting my year with the memory of my village. Dodo is massively produced in my village. Dad one day stopped me from buying ‘ipekere’ by the road side while admonishing me that “dodo kun ilu wa, ki lo fe fi ipekere shey?”

.
Xmas brings memories. I miss daddy and mummy. I miss the pounded yam I would have eaten at home in Ibadan today.

.
But I have been so happy about my hair. I feel so liberated from the stress and worry of what to do with it every week.

.

Now Jonathan Eze will stop asking me everytime he breezes into Abuja “why didn’t you make your hair?”
And I usually told him I didn’t have money.

.

One day, after dropping me at my office, he had given me money to make the hair and what did I do? I entered market and bought “a-ge-ma-wo”. That’s eran maalu. And when he saw me the next day on his way to the airport, I just ‘boned’ because you see, I had no explanation.😀(yes, I’m bad like that and those who love me actually love me like that)

.
I can use my money to make ‘oha’ soup in peace instead of giving it to salons.
Merry Xmas and a happy new year in advance, blog fam
