#TrueLoveStories# I Am His 100unit Course-TolulopeAyokunle2017

I have known these couple for sometime.
They are both doctors. One is a doctor of books(She is very silent about it- too modest. But a Ph.D is a big deal in Nigeria, so ain’t helping her to keep quiet about it) and the other is a medical doctor.

.

Theirs is an interesting love story of perseverance, courage, long distance, and God’s help. They are getting married in some months.

.
They were together for only few months in UI as Masters student before Kunle travelled out and stayed for four years. I was there with Tolu at her Agbowo-U.I residence when they would talk via Skype. Most times, I left the room for her.

.
I was there with Tolu at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, when Kunle came back to Nigeria after bagging his medical degree abroad. The joy was infectious. We even forgot to take pictures.

.

It was an epic moment when we saw him already waiting at the airport entrance. While they hugged each other, I was hugging myself too(lol). It rained that day. We all ran back to the car under the rain. They kept on talking in the car on our way back.

.
I was there at the NAF Conference Centre, Kado Estate, Abuja, when Kunle was inducted into the Nigerian Medical Profession(why didn’t i ever take pictures with them?)

.
Today, I have the pleasure of sharing their epic love story on my blog. (Let me confess: i was waiting to strangle him if he ever bailed.) But he has surpassed my expectations.

.

Please, grab a plate of popcorn or coldstone ice cream cake like I am going to do and enjoy this timeless piece. Its exclusive!!! Its going down hot!!!!

1. Brief Introduction

.
My name is Tolu Omolekulo. I’m a scientist who hail from Ondo State. I’m almost rounding off my doctoral programme at the University of Ilorin.
My name is Ayokunle Adegoke. I am a Medical Doctor from Okuku, Osun state, Nigeria.

.
2. How long have you been together?

.
5 years

.
3. How and when did you meet?

.
Tolu – It was my first time in ibadan when I went to write my M.Sc entrance exam. I didn’t know anywhere and anybody in ibadan. Fortunately, one of my friends in ilorin gave me the contact of his friend in Ibadan that i could put up with.

.
As fate would have it , the lady happened to be Kunle’s family friend. It wasn’t long that i settled down in her apartment that Kunle walked in. He met me reading in preparation for the following day exam. Of course, we greeted and got introduced to each other.

.
Being in the same career field with me, it didn’t take him so long before he started asking me questions he felt I should know to pass the exam.

.
Unfortunately, I didn’t know the answers to most of the questions and in a way i got destabilized but he wouldnt keep quiet .Inside of me i was like ‘will this oversabi guy just shup up and allow me some space?’lol

.Afterwards, we exchanged numbers and became almost inseparable
NB. none of the questions he was asking me eventually came out in the exam.lollll and I passed the exam.

.
Kunle– I met Tolu in 2011 when I went to write the UI entrance examination into Masters degree programme. (Although I eventually didn’t complete this programme as I got admitted to medical school in Ukraine)

.
Coincidentally, we had the same host and we were also trying to gain admission in to the same programme. I tried to engage her in discussion concerning the exam.

.

Eventually, we both passed. When it was time for registration, we were doing it together. We grew very close.

.
4. What was the point of attraction or convincing factor for both of you?

.
Tolu-To be honest, I did not hear any audible voice and I didn’t dream any dream. lol. It was simply just a knowing within me. I always told myself when i was single that when i meet the right person i would know and that was exactly what happened.
.
There was just this knowing within me that i can’t really explain such that I didnt even need an angel to tell me I was with the right man.
.
I got attracted to Kunle’ s good nature. He can go an extra mile to ensure people around him are doing just fine . He is such a kind hearted person and that attitude of his got me.

.
Kunle-i liked her stature and good character. Even though I didn’t hear any audible voice, she was everything I prayed to God about. She ticked all the necessary dots. I knew within me that she was the one. I had that inner witness within me. Besides, I knew it was time to get engaged
.
5. Did you know you were going to stay this long before getting married?

.
Tolu– To be honest I never knew it would be this long. I thought we would have been married since 2014 by my own calculation.
Kunle– I didn’t know it would be this long.
.
6. How did you cope with the long distance?

.
Tolu– Communication! Communication !! For all the four years we were apart, there was no single day of a break in communication. He knows what I’m doing per time. We were really so close despite the distance .

.
He is my best friend. He will always call me his 100 unit course. And, of course sacrifice, we invested alot in communication. I would rather not eat than not have data on my phone to Skype or chat.

.
Kunle– it wasn’t easy. Although I didn’t feel the pressure too much because of the demands of medical school. We communicated everyday so much that her folks back home would call me in Ukraine to know her whereabout in Nigeria if they couldn’t reach her on phone immediately.

.
7. How did you survive people’s jeers, sneers and unsolicited advice while waiting?

.
Tolu– Hmmm. I will say not minding them and believing in myself. I always tell myself, I’m the only person that knows what I’m doing and I owe nobody any explanation.

.
8. Kunle, were there temptations and how did you survive?

.
Of course, there were temptations but I didn’t fall into it because godliness with contentment is great gain.
I wasn’t swayed for several reasons. One of them being that it would never add anything to me. Every little chance I got, I was always speaking on phone with her. Then, I was able to set boundaries and I also told everyone around me about her.

.
9. Do you think long distance relationship is the best?

.
Tolu– To be honest. I don’t think it’s the best. The years we were together are more memorable to me than years we were apart. Though, it has its own advantages too. There is a way it refreshes love and keeps one from sexual sin.

.
Kunle– I feel that’s a personal thing. It worked for me, so I like it. I really enjoyed it though it may not work for others. It require a lot of sacrifices. I personally believe its a litmus test for true love. If you can survive long distance relationship genuinely, you can also survive the stress of marriage. But, both partners have to be serious minded.
.
10. What advice do you have for intending couples?

.
Tolu– Be best of friends. Laugh and play together. Also, remember you are not married until you are married. Stay pure
Kunle– keep yourself pure. Desist from immorality. It pays.
