I Never Went On A Group Outing In My Entire Life Until Yesterday!

Me…wearing the stripe jacket

Yesterday, I was at the Millennium Park, Maitama. The last time I went there was four years ago…   alone.

.
It turned out to be fun. Until this, I had never gone on a group outing in my entire life(except for excursion in secondary school). I am a recluse, a social misfit…you see.

.
I remember when I was working in Lagos, my friend cum namesake would say, let’s all go on a group date to Olumo rock this weekend. But, I would be the only one to decline.

.
“I am going to ibadan with Daddy, I can’t come”, I would announce.

.
“What’s with you and that your ibadan?”Koyejo would ask

.
So, we rode in a Jeep while I held my head in my hands.

.
Every good thing I eventually ended up doing in this my life, someone must have pushed or forced me. That’s why I love to have people in my life who would occasionally push me out of my complacent zone.

I had the strawberry flavour

When we arrived, we first walked past this ice cream booth then walked back and had some scoops in a wafer. I think everyone knows that ice cream is my weakness.

.

Millennium Park is situated opposite the famous Transcorp Hilton in a serene environment that has Unity Fountain in front.

.

This Park is the most popular in Abuja. It play host to locals and visitors alike. Entry is free and mat can be rented. Everyone came with their heavy coolers and drinks were ferried inside by wheelbarrows.

.

Because it was a Saturday, the park was a beehive of activity. There was a women’s clothing sales going on at a corner too.

.

The park is big and very beautiful. It has several attractions for adults and children.

.

I went with a group of beautiful young men and women led by the founder of an Abuja based NGO, Mrs Mabel Onwuemele.

.

We had so much fun, a truth or dare game, a meet and greet session and to cap it all, food was plenty.

.

I ate stick meat, fried rice and jollof, my favorite bon-bon chocolate, biscuits and sweets, big cola.

.

I met some amazing people too. In my five years stay in Abuja, I never made a single friend till date except for office friends who later became good friends. Like my friend Boyede and Miracle.

.

We had fun, laughter, shots and enjoyed the cool ambience of the park. It’s an experience I won’t forget in a hurry.

.

Here are glimpses from the outing;
