How Can You Be So Cheap?
This piece was written by Moyosore Teniola…Enjoy!!!
On a cool evening sometime in 2010, when I was still a student at the Polytechnic, I was with my friend who managed a call centre business near campus.
We both sat on a chair under her “make your call” umbrella, gisting when a lady walked past us probably returning home from lectures. While she walked by, a young man whose shop was next to my friend’s own said: “I will woo this girl and if possible have sex with her tonight”. I just looked at him and looked away because I didn’t see any sense in what he said, so I ignored him and continued chatting with my friend. The guy was like “you ladies don’t believe me? Okay, we shall see”. I turned my attention to him again with a disgusting look, “what on earth will he gain from such escapade?” I thought.
I stared at the vanishing figure of the lady down the street and concluded in my mind that she seemed to be a decent girl, the guy can never succeed in his plan. Well, was I wrong?
The guy caught up with the lady down the road, they talked for a while after which he led the lady into a nearby supermarket where he probably bought her one or two items (only God knows) and they both picked a bike and left.
The following day, I met my friend in class and to my utmost displeasure and disappointment, she confirmed to me that the young man did succeed in sleeping with the girl she met the previous day. ” For crying out loud! I don’t believe you” I screamed! “Well, my friend replied, the lady called the guy in my presence while the phone was on speaker and I heard their conversation clearly”. I was infuriated… they had sex with each other the very first day they met and right inside the lady’s room! And the worst part of it is that the guy felt so good about his “achievement” that he kept bragging to whoever cares to listen…
How can she be this cheap? Such a beautiful young lady. I didn’t know what the young man bought for her that made her stoop so low to that extent but I tell you, things like this make me so angry to the bones… I actually expected the lady to disappoint the young man’s expectations but it was the other way round. Why are women of substance so hard to find these days? I kept meditating on what happened….
My Lady, Stop right now! Take a good look at your life and ask yourself these questions: “HOW CHEAP AM I?”
In the little years of my existence, what can men who i have come across so far say about me?” This is not to make you regret your past life but it is a call to live a better life, more beautiful than your past.
So, Forward to year 2017, we have the recently celebrated story of the ‘keep the change bae’, which was a total contrast of the story I shared with you in the last part of this article. It was all about a lady that went out on a date with a guy who spent the sum of #3,800 on her. The guy later asked her out but the lady turned him down which made the guy take to his Twitter page saying all sorts of things concerning the lady. Well, the lady forwarded the sum of #5000 to the guy’s account, also instructing him to keep the change. This gave her the popular name: ‘keep the change bae’ and made her suddenly famous. Well, as controversial as this lady’s action may seem to people, all I could see in her in summary is a self esteem that she would never allow a ‘#3,800’ to batter. That is the good side of her story!
Till now, I do not know why some ladies believe that they can trade their body for some worthless goodies they receive from men. It doesn’t worth it my sister. Your body is not a medium of exchange. NO! In fact, the safest way is to refuse any ‘supposed’ act of kindness from these guys, knowing fully well that they will surely come back requesting for your presence in their beds in appreciation of their ‘good deeds’ which was only a bait in disguise! Be wise my Lady, use your brain!
Many destinies have been destroyed because of things as cheap as a bottle of malt, a plate of rice, food stuffs, beverages and so on… It is quite disheartening. If you know your worth, you wouldn’t allow any material thing from any man whatsoever to freak you. A woman of dignity and virtue is so costly that you can never buy her with material things. Be that costly lady, ‘cos your worth is far above rubies!
I care for you
Do have a nice day.
