And the dog caught me…..
The time was 8.15pm. I was on my way back to the house, feeling unusually cool this evening, sure that the beast would not be there yet. I even met one of the security guys on the way (not Nda)we greeted, and he went on his way towards the road while I headed into the street. Coincidentally,I wrote about Nda and his dog yesterday. Less than 24hours later, the dog caught up with me this night. It’s a super story and I have to download it….
I waltzed towards the gate with a bag of water in hand. I didn’t see the beast coming, I didn’t know it waylaid me. That beast tricked me into believing he wasn’t there. He was laying down calmly in the dark, and his dark skin blended with the color of the night. If he was standing, I would have made out his tall form from afar (yes,he is a tall beast) but oh no, he calmly waylaid me and I fell into the trap. Woe betide you if you are a thief coming to rob, you are dead meat!!! Don’t say I didn’t tell you. As I approached the gate, I still didn’t see it until it suddenly leapt fiercely and forcefully at me with the speed of light, as if he had been waiting for me. I didn’t see it coming neither did I expect it. The sudden shock sent me reeling backwards. He came after me(at least as far as his iron chain would permit, very long chain) The bag of water tripped me and I fell flat on the dusty ground. I thought the end had come. I saw the stars. He was going to tear me to pieces. I didn’t even say my last prayers but I shouted. My distress cry reached the ear of the one who passed me and the one in their little make-shift hut close to the building. They both came running. By this time, I stood up again and began running towards the road. They called me back, spoke hausa to the mad beast, begged me profusely and stood beside the beast(he answers to them only) while I shakily opened the gate with my key. I was already locked out, yet again. The beast’s chain was wound round the gate such that if they were not there, there was no way I could have entered. It’s now a daily nightmare….
I have to leave the house for that dog before it kills me. Thinking of where to relocate to…..I am #tayad# I simply hate dogs.
Early saturday morning, I was coming in from Nassarawa state and I suddenly remembered the dog. The time was 4.20am. I began to pray for hold-up along the Abuja-Keffi Expressway all through the Nyanya- Mararaba axis. Thank God there was mad traffic. I got to my street exactly 6.30am and what did I see? Nda was untying another dog from another building adjacent my own. I never knew they put dogs in front of every gate. Thought it was ours alone. I was visibly relieved to see that he had already taken away the one that terrorizes me so I walked calmly inside. It was a big luck.
Just yesterday at the Tundun Wada market, an Okada man who saw me coming almost broke my right leg. He rammed straight into me, my bag fell down. Everybody was shouting at him. I can’t explain how I managed to extricate myself from the mess. I was locked in between two okadas cos another came to block my escape. It was just God. Everybody was begging me telling me not to mind the okada men. What if I had lost a leg? I could not even press immediate charges against him because I just couldn’t comprehend what he was struggling to say. The girls he carried too were begging me. The whole market was looking so I walked calmly away. After the nemesis with Azeez the driver, 30th May last year(you may dig up the post to update), I have not been involved in stunts or crowd pulling shows like ever since. Isn’t it time to hit Lagos? I had it far better on the streets of lasgidi. But really, the devil is a blatant liar. No evil shall befall me as this year runs to an end neither shall any plague come near my dwelling….I rest my case. #timetopetitionheaven#
